While the last few releases of Exchange haven’t provided the end user with any terrific new experiences, I am happy to announce that Exchange 2010 has. With Microsoft’s increasingly competitive battle against Google they really improved Outlook Web Access (OWA). Currently in 2003, if you wanted to search your email from the web, it’s next to impossible and even less accurate whereas searching in your Outlook is a dream. Microsoft has changed this in their web interface for 2010. You can now search your email from the web just as if you were sitting in front of Outlook. For me there is not a price you can put on that as I live inside of Outlook. There are other great advantages as well, such as the size of the total mail server, no longer is it limited by software. Now Exchange is only limited by your hardware. What that means is as long as your server can handle it, your mailbox can be as big as you want!
So to sum it up, I love the new OWA. It enables me to have the functionality of my Outlook from anywhere. Also, it gives me the ability to have a gigantic email box. If Gmail and Exchange were to have a baby, it would be Exchange 2010. I guess a little fierce competition did help the consumers in this one.
