After all, if you utilize QuickBooks it’s essentially your company’s cash register.
There are several things that should be done from time to time to keep your QuickBooks database running smoothly. This type of maintenance often gets overlooked until the unthinkable happens; the dreaded error that indicates your QuickBooks file is damaged. When this happens it can not only lead to stress and heart ache, but many hours of support which could lead to hefty bills.
While the time it takes to perform maintenance varies based on your company’s file size, we have found on average it takes about 30 minutes to an hour. If you would like to install the most recent patches and updates on all of your workstations, the time would vary as well.
Performing this maintenance periodically will not only give you piece of mind, but it will provide savings to the bottom line and greatly lessens the chances of a QuickBooks outage at your organization.
Quick tips:
- Whenever you are logging out of QuickBooks, don’t just close the application – go to the “File” menu and chose “Close company/logoff”.
- Always make sure your QuickBooks data file is backed up on a daily basis.
