As you all may remember, I was extremely excited for the arrival of the Windows 7 phone. I must admit though, when we finally received one at the Fuse office I was a little disappointed. There are a few main features that are missing although Microsoft says they will arrive in the next update, which is excellent. However, like a buddy of mine said, “A company like Microsoft can’t come late to the party, missing core functionality, it could jeopardize their entire approach.” I am not counting Microsoft out yet because if these items were addressed I would probably drop my iPhone.
The Bad:
• No visual voice mail – That’s right you have to listen to messages in the order they were received
• Can’t copy and paste
• Battery life (about 4 hours on average use) – Tested on HTC surround
• You cannot add custom ringtones from your private collection of sounds to your Windows Phone. If you have an MP3 file you cannot set that file as a custom ringtone, regardless of whether it is synchronized to your phone through the Zune software. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2453124
• Can’t use the phone as a storage device / see it in windows with Reg hacking
• Confusing on how to add a new number as a contact
• Not many apps for it yet
• Takes a long time to charge
The Good:
• Very nice interface
• Easy to setup your home screen
• Awesome email integration
• Comes with MS Office ( excel , word , share point , one note)
• The maps are awesome and accurate on locating you
• Uses micro USB to charge
• Internet is very fast even on 3G
• Setting up email was very easy
• XBox live integration (not very functional but neat nevertheless)
• Typing works a lot better than the iPhone
