We can’t stress enough that it’s extremely important to change your passwords, at least every quarter, and don’t use something easy. Try to use a combination of both letters and numbers, even change from lower to uppercase.
THE DANGER:
Hackers use something called a brute force attack– what this is, is an application they run against your server, and it’s usually a completely automated task. The program tries several combinations of different words, and numbers, drawn from a dictionary file. If you keep your password the same for long periods of time, these applications can eventually crack it.
It’s a Pain!
We know it’s a pain, and you have enough passwords to remember but the security of your data is of the utmost importance to us!
However Fuse has your server equipped with several brute force blockers, such as account lockout policies. These policies lock the account if an invalid login attempt has occurred after x amount of times. We like to keep our client’s data as secure as we possibly can and changing passwords frequently are one of those things that helps keep your data secure.
